A button has been placed under the cover where the patient presses to operate the vibrator. ELT was calculated in seconds with a chronometer. The test was repeated with second medication in 7–15 days. Among 40 patients, the results of 17 could be evaluated. When the patient took placebo and vardenafil, mean ELTs were 62.7 and 189.5 s, respectively. This laboratory design might be used to evaluate the effects of drugs on patients with ejaculation disorders.

A pivotal phase III study of the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of vardenafil as a treatment for ED in patients with diabetes mellitus reported intercourse success rates independently of HbA1c levels and of baseline ED severity. ED and premature ejaculation are both common sexual dysfunctions that many men and people with penises suffer from. Erectile dysfunction drugs are effective in treating ED, but did you know that these drugs may also improve premature ejaculation? In this article, we will explain the relationship between erectile dysfunction drugs and premature ejaculation, including reports of clinical studies. Effects of Erectile Dysfunction Drugs on Premature Ejaculation Summary: Prevent Premature Ejaculation in a Way that Suits You The drug Dapoxetine (also known as Priligy) is well-known as a treatment for premature ejaculation and is approved in more than 50 countries around the world.

What are common premature ejaculation medications?

However, due to certain regulations, it may be expensive or inaccessible in some areas, thus not all medical institutions can prescribe it. Learn how to improve it with medication and training. Drugs such as vardenafil, sildenafil and tadalafil and their generic versions are well-known for treatment of erectile dysfunction, or ED, and are available at many medical institutions. There is also the possibility that these ED medications may also improve premature ejaculation. Here we will take a look at some of the research findings.

Numerous studies have been conducted regarding the effect of erectile dysfunction drugs on premature ejaculation. This time we will discuss a report on "Vardenafil" (product name "Levitra") [1]. In the study, 40 couples in which men had issues with premature ejaculation were divided into two groups, one group taking a 10 mg dose of Vardenafil (VAR group) (30 couples), and the other group taking a placebo (10 couples) before sexual intercourse. The duration of the treatment was 8 weeks, and the duration of vaginal penetration (intravaginal ejaculation latency time, IELT) was measured in each couple before and after treatment. After 12 Weeks (medication/placebo switched after 8th week) As a comparison, the results in intravaginal ejaculation latency time (IELT) after 12 weeks use of dapoxetine, a component of the premature ejaculation treatment drug Priligy, was reported to be from 0.9 minutes at the start of treatment, to 2.8 minutes for 30 mg of dapoxetine and 3.3 minutes for 60 mg after treatment. • Vardenafil's effect duration typically ranges from 4-6 hours.
  • It may help improve confidence in men with PE.
  • Vardenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor primarily targeting ED.
  • Off-label use for PE is common but not officially approved.
  • Psychological factors also influence premature ejaculation.
  • Combining Vardenafil with topical anesthetics may enhance delay.
  • It is contraindicated with nitrate medications.
  • Vardenafil does not directly alter ejaculatory reflexes.
  • Proper dosage can minimize risks and maximize benefits.
  • Sometimes men use Vardenafil with additional pelvic exercises.
  • Men should avoid alcohol while using Vardenafil.
  • Long-term safety data for PE use is limited.

Symptoms and Causes of Premature Ejaculation

[2] Compared to before starting the drug, intravaginal ejaculation latency time after 8 weeks in the VAR group showed a significant increase in vaginal penetration time (from 0.6 min at the start to 4.5 minutes after 8 weeks). Due to differences in experimental conditions, it is not possible to make complete comparisons, but it can be suggested that vardenafil has an effect on improving premature ejaculation. In this study, after taking the drug for 8 weeks, medications were switched between the VAR group and the placebo group, and the experiment was performed for another 4 weeks. When IELT was re-measured 4 weeks after the switch, significant prolongation of time (0.7 minutes → 2.0 minutes) was confirmed in the placebo group (who took 10 mg of vardenafil after switch). The VAR group (taking a placebo after replacement), saw penetration time decrease after the switch, however it was still significantly longer than before the study.

Paroxetine (Paxil®) for PE

Based on the results, it can be said that vardenafil has an effect on prolonging IELT after being taken, and that its effect may persist even after a certain period of time has elapsed since the last dosage. However, the time that vardenafil affects the body is said to be several hours, the reason why the effects persisted much longer is unknown. One possible cause may be that once some patients experienced a longer penetration time, they may have become more accustomed to the duration. In this study, the number of doses taken during the 8-week period varied from couple to couple due to the number of times the couples had sexual intercourse. However a positive correlation was observed between the number of doses and intravaginal ejaculation latency time at 8 weeks in the VAR group.

Authors and Affiliations

In summary, the study reported that taking 10 mg of vardenafil significantly improved penetration time in patients with premature ejaculation, and that the more frequently the drug was taken, the greater the improvement. Although we presented a study conducted with vardenafil, other erectile dysfunction drugs, such as sildenafil and tadalafil, have also been known to improve premature ejaculation [3,4]. The mechanism of why these ED drugs improve premature ejaculation is not yet clear, but one possible reason includes the psychological relief of a sustained erection that these drugs provide. That, and the fact that increased hardness of the erection makes it more difficult for nerves in the penis to be stimulated. Treatment of premature ejaculation with erectile dysfunction medication is not the conventional use of ED drugs. • Vardenafil's effectiveness for PE varies, necessitating individualized approaches.
  • It is primarily prescribed for erectile dysfunction, not PE specifically.
  • Men should report any serious side effects to their doctor.
  • Use of Vardenafil can sometimes lead to a more satisfying intimacy.
  • The medication can be part of a broader sexual health routine.
  • Immediate results are not guaranteed; patience is important.
  • It may improve confidence and reduce performance anxiety.
  • Making lifestyle changes enhances treatment outcomes.
  • Combine with other delay techniques for best results.
  • It’s vital to adhere to prescribed doses.
  • Do not use Vardenafil with nitrate medications.
  • Always consult your healthcare provider before starting treatment.

How well do pills work against ejaculation too fast?

If you are interested in this treatment, please consult with a medical specialist first. Rather than using medication for premature ejaculation, PE can can also be improved with training. You can learn how to control ejaculation by manipulating your pelvic floor muscles while masturbating with special items. Unlike taking medication, PE training takes time and effort. But once you master and maintain it, the effects can be long-lasting with no side effects.

In some countries where premature ejaculation is not treated as a disease, there has been a lot of inaccurate information about the subject. It can be treated in a variety of ways, even non-medical, if properly implemented.

The aim of this study is to measure the ejaculation latency time (ELT) and to evaluate the effects of vardenafil on ELT and rigidity parameters of patients with lifelong premature ejaculation (PE) in a laboratory setting. Double-blind, placebo-controlled, cross-over laboratory study was performed with 40 males with lifelong PE. As the subject ingested the placebo or vardenafil, real-time penile tumescence and rigidity monitoring began. Audiovisual sexual stimulation (AVSS) was performed 45 min later. The patient began vibratory stimulation to the frenular area at 8th minute of AVSS till ejaculation. • It may interact with other medications, altering effectiveness or safety.
  • Dose optimization is important to manage side effects and efficacy.
  • Vardenafil requires careful timing relative to sexual activity.
  • Not a cure for PE but can help some men delay ejaculation.
